The Power of a Shoebox
Did you know the Christmas Shoebox Appeal started right here in Eastbourne? In 1992, as a response to the Bosnian War, these small parcels of gifts, clothes and toiletries became symbols of hope. Today, the idea has spread worldwide, blessing millions of lives - from children to the elderly - in over 100 countries.
This year, we're asking for your help again. Whether it's a shoebox or a gift bag, your donations bring joy to those who need it most, both in the UK and overseas.
Small Communities, Big Hearts
Take inspiration from Brayford, a tiny North Devon village of just 407 people. Last year, they packed 109 shoeboxes - proof that every contribution counts! Could your local knitting group, school or workplace join in? Even passing on spare wool keeps the goodwill knitting along.
A Year of Challenges - and Hope
2022 marked 30 years of this special appeal, and last year was one of our busiest yet. Alongside our usual work, we delivered aid to Ukraine, with three trips covering 15,000 miles. By year's end we were exhausted - but also reminded of how much these gestures matter.
